Applying for a Y2C2 job
Applying for a Youth Programs job

You are probably familiar with the Yukon Youth Conservation Corps-hundreds of students have worked with Y2C2 over the last 15 years. The program offers summer employment and training opportunities to eligible Yukon students (including at the secondary school level). Participants in the program tackle conservation-related projects throughout the territory, get paid a wage, gain new skills and learn about the Yukon's natural resources.
While "classic" Y2C2 crews work in a team of 4-5 students, the Y2C2 Green Team offers post-secondary students the opportunity to work on more specialized projects. These projects require more independence but give you more in-depth experience. You will work on research projects, field studies, and environment education with teachers and kids in May-June, and then in Yukon communities later in the summer.
The Conservation Action Team (CAT) program requires two post-secondary students to assist in the planning and delivery of conservation-related summer camps for kids going into Grades 7-10.
Campers spend 1-2 weeks around the territory learning about the environment and doing adventure activities. Past destinations have included Fort Selkirk, the Dempster Highway region, the Burwash Uplands and Frances Lake and the Coal River Springs in the southeast. More info on the CAT program. For job details, read on.
Note: These are not STEP jobs! Hiring for Y2C2 and CAT jobs is done by the Department of Environment.
Eligibility:
- You are between 16 and 24 years of age (older students are considered for senior jobs).
- You are a full-time high school or post-secondary student in 2007-2008 and planning to return to full-time studies in the fall.
