Proposed Yukon Wildlife Act Amendments Required for Consistency with Yukon First NationsAnd Gwich'in Final Agreements
The Yukon Government has started a formal process to consult with Yukon First Nations as well as the Tetlit Gwich'in and the Inuvialuit of the Mackenzie Delta on proposals to make the Wildlife Act consistent with land claims agreements.
The government's proposed changes are an outstanding commitment to make the Wildlife Act consistent with the Yukon Land Claims Agreements and to work cooperatively with First Nations governments to coordinate the management of settlement lands and public lands.
Anyone who wishes to review the proposed changes and present comments to the government can view the proposed changes booklet here (PDF 677K).
The booklet will also be available at Environment Yukon offices in the communities and the Yukon government administration building on Second Avenue in Whitehorse.
