Cleaning up Hazardous Spills

Spills, unfortunately, do happen, and some spills need to be cleaned up right away. When hazardous substances such as fuel oil are spilled, the environment and public health can be harmed if action is not taken.

To make sure the environment and human health are protected, Part 11 of the Environment Act and the Spills Regulations were put in place. These spills provisions describe the size and kind of spills that must be reported, and what to do when a spill occurs.
