Best Times to Fish
- Lake Trout:
- Early spring when the ice is breaking. Lake trout congregate near the surface. Through the month of June lake trout are feeding in the shallows before heading to the deeper cooler water during the summer months. In the fall when the trout move into the shoals to spawn.
- Arctic Grayling:
- Early spring when the grayling move into the shallow rivers and streams to spawn. Remember stay out of the stream beds and fish from shore.
- Northern Pike:
- In the early spring in the shallow water during spawning. During the summer pike can be found in shallow, warm weedy areas of lakes and sloughs.
- Chinook Salmon:
- Caught during the month of August in the Morley, Tatchun and Johnson's Crossing area. Around Dawson City angle from the Klondike River bridge in mid July.
- Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye Salmon:
- The Tatshenshini River system supports seasonal runs of Chinook, coho and sockeye salmon. The best Chinook angling occurs through the month of July. Coho fishing is best during late September and October. Sockeye can be caught from late August to October. Remember it is unlawful to keep sockeye salmon before August 15.
